As a Wind Haven site-subscriber, you have the capability to submit content for blog posts.

You can write an article to submit to our blog that is related to the category you’ve chosen to write for.

All submitted posts are reviewed & approved to be published by Wind Haven admins.

Content Quality Checklist

When you submit content, make sure that it follows the quality guidelines:

  1. Use more active voice than passive voice.
  2. Use subheadings to outline your post.
  3. Make sure there is variety in your sentences.
  4. Keep sentences shorter. Sentences should not include more than 20 words in more than 25% of your post.
  5. Make sure your post is fairly easy to read. Keep sentences short. Avoid compound sentences. Limit your use of more difficult words. Use thesaurus.com to find a better word if needed.
  6. Write shorter paragraphs. Try to keep paragraphs less than 150 words and no more than 200 words max.
  7. Use enough transition words.
  8. Finally, check for any grammatical errors using Microsoft Word or Grammerly.com.

Submit a Domestic Violence Article:

  • This content will be part of the Domestic Violence Resources category. Don’t create duplicate content, so make sure to review the live archive.
  • Either write expanding content for a current post, or write brand new content. If expanding on current content, please link to the current post are supplementing additional information for.
  • When writing resource articles for DV, focus on creating useful, helpful, compassionate & motivational content. For example:
    • Provide practical information that an abused person may not think about during such a stressful time. Past examples include our “Leave Your Abuser Bug-Out Bag” post, “Create A Safety Plan” post, “What is Trauma Bond?” post, etc.
    • Motivational content would be posts such as “Moving Forward after Abuse,” “How God Feels About Abuse.” You can even share your personal story about your own experience with abuse – without blasting your abuser.
    • Make sure that your words convey a compassionate tone.
    • Avoid posting content related to “Recognizing Abuse” in this category. This type of content should go in the next category.

Submit a Recognizing Abuse Article

  • This content will be part of the Recognizing Abuse category. Don’t create duplicate content, so make sure to review the live archive.
  • Either write expanding comment for a current post, or write brand new content. If expanding on current content, please link to the current post you are supplementing additional information for.
  • When writing articles for this category, make sure the article fit the subject “Recognizing Abuse.”

Submit a Dating 101 Article

  • This content will be part of the Dating 101 category. Don’t create duplicate content, so make sure to review the live archive.
  • Either write expanding comment for a current post, or write brand new content. If expanding on current content, please link to the current post you are supplementing additional information for.
  • The intention for articles in this category is to teach healthy dating habits. People who have been abused generally form unhealthy dating patterns. Therefore, our goal is to teach people with unhealthy patterns how to create new healthy patterns. First of all, healthy patterns include knowing the difference between a healthy and an unhealthy relationship. Secondly, healthy patterns include setting firm, healthy boundaries for ourselves.
  • We separate the “dating stage” and “relationship stage.” Therefore, Dating 101 is for posts about early dating stages. The next category will be for Healthy Relationship advice.
